ColorWorks™ Wallpaper FAQ

GENERAL INFORMATION

How does ColorWorks™ differ from other print-to-order services?

Unlike many “automated” print-to-order services that simply place your submitted design in a preset template or layout, RM COCO has human-driven design support. The Design Studio can help with pattern adjustments, scaling/repeat setup, recoloring, or artwork preparation — allowing for more refined and tailored results.

Is there a minimum yardage requirement for ColorWorks™ patterns, recolored prints or custom design?

Yes, there is a 1 yard minimum.

How long does it take to print with ColorWorks™?

The approximate lead time from order approval is between 4-6 business days. This can vary depending on the volume going through the print room.

If I have a question about a design, printing, changing colors, etc. – who should I contact ?

For general questions regarding ColorWorks™, your sales representative is a great resource. For specifics about a design, printing, changing colors, etc. – your best resource is to contact colorworks@rmcoco.com

Are any of the ColorWorks™ wallpaper designs stocked?

None of our wallpaper designs are pre-printed and stocked in our warehouse. This is a custom print-to-order program. Orders are printed weekly for quick shipment.

Will RM COCO advise on the required wallpaper needed for a project?

No. Each project is unique and our sales and customer service representatives are not able to advise on the quantity of wallpaper each project will require.  A professional wallpaper hanger will be able to advise on order quantities needed.  Customers should remember that fabric repeats are noted based on 54” wide base fabrics.  While the scale of the matching design does not change when printing on paper the width does.  Printed width on wallpaper is 27”.  In many cases this will require wallpaper to be hung as a drop match and will require more wallpaper than a straight match repeat.  Again, a professional wallpaper hanger will be able to advise on any additional yardage that may be needed for a specific design and project.

What is recommended before ordering yardage of ColorWorks™ wallpaper?

We highly recommend that on any color, design or base change you plan to make that you order a one-yard approval sample before placing your final yardage order. Computer monitors and color printers vary greatly.  You cannot be assured what you see on a computer screen, or what prints on a color printer is exactly what will print on wallpaper.

SAMPLING INFORMATION

Are wallpaper memos available on all patterns and colors in the ColorWorks™ collection?

No. We will provide the base wallpaper inserts free of charge to show the quality and specifications of the substrate, but we will not offer individual wallpaper memos of each pattern and color. Should a larger sample of a specific pattern and color be required, a 1 yard sample may be purchased.

What are HEX numbers on the ColorWorks™ Palette?

A HEX number is a combination of six letters and numbers that represents a formula needed to reproduce that specific color. The HEX number origin is from the Pantone® FHI (Fashion Home Interiors) TCX Color system.

Is there a charge for the color palette?

Yes, the cost of the color palette is the wholesale price for 1 printed yard of wallpaper.

PRINTING INFORMATION

The patterns in the first collection seem to have more ink on them than the second. Is less ink being used?

No. The ColorWorks™ color palette was expanded after the first collection was produced. There is a wider variety of tones and hue saturations from which to choose now. The second set of patterns offers some of the softer tones and that may be the difference you are noticing, but the same amount of ink has remained consistent.

If a customer needs to cancel an order after it is printed, is that an option with a restocking fee?

No. Each order, even the standard ColorWorks™ patterns are custom printed to order and are not stocked. The only returns allowed after printing are for flawed or damaged goods.

Can I print a solid color?

Yes! We can print any solid color. It is a great option when you can’t seem to find the right solid for a project and do not want to paint. Use our color palette to get a perfect color match and simply enter your chosen HEX code into our easy to use recolor tool.

Can I print multiple test colors?

Yes! If you are trying to get a perfect color match, use our swatch color sampler. Through our recolor tool, you can select 6 different colors that we will print on a yard of your selected base so you can be sure you are getting the exact color you are looking for!

COPYRIGHT INFORMATION

Will RM COCO own my copyrighted design?

No, the customer retains the copyright to the design.

Will RM COCO be able to offer a customer’s copyrighted design for sale on their website?

No, only the designs that RM COCO owns the copyright to will be offered. Any design sent to us will only be printed for the rightful owner of the copyrighted design.

Is it possible to reproduce an out-of-stock or discontinued pattern from RM COCO or another print source?

No, we cannot copy any design where we do not own the copyright or have written permission from the copyright holder to print. Out-of-stock and discontinued patterns bound by copyright law and cannot be reproduced without permission from the original copyright holder.

Can you print a discontinued print from another vendor?

Is it possible to customize any RM COCO exclusive pattern?

No, RM COCO only has exclusive distribution rights to those patterns. We do not own the copyright to the designs and cannot reproduce them.

Can I send RM COCO a pattern to print?

Yes, we are able to print any pattern that you own the copyright to or have written permission from the copyright holder to reproduce. Customers sending RM COCO patterns to print must certify that they are the rightful holder of the copyright to the artwork being sent. RM COCO will not knowingly print a copyrighted design. If a customer certifies that they own a copyright that they do not have the rights to, the customer may have a lawsuit filed against them for copyright infringement. All legal and financial penalties for this will be the sole responsibility of the party that certified ownership of a copyright that they do not own.

CUSTOMIZE INFORMATION

What colors can I use for recoloring?

You can purchase a ColorWorks™ Wallpaper Color Palette which features 2600+ custom colors to select from. Each color on the palette has its own unique HEX color formula that you enter on the recolor form or on the recolor tool on the website.

What if I would like a colorway that is not shown in one of the ColorWorks™ patterns?

With the exclusion of only a few patterns, all ColorWorks™ are eligible to be recolored to some degree. Some of the more complex patterns only allow the background to be changed. This is due to a high number colors used to create depth within the pattern. These can also be recolored but only with the assistance of the ColorWorks™ artist.

Are the ‘specs’ in the background of Alsace Damask a flaw? Can those be removed?

No, they are not a flaw. The specs are part of the design to provide it depth. Yes, you can remove them by utilizing the recolor tool and adjusting that color layer to match another layer in the design or change to white to be unprinted.  The same concept goes for the pattern Guinevere and the texture in the background.

Is there a charge for the recoloring?

Yes and no. If you take advantage of the customize tool via the website, there is no additional fee. However, if you require the assistance of the ColorWorks™ artist, there will be a fee of $80 per hour with a minimum of $20.

If I need help putting my pattern into repeat or coloring the design, can RM COCO help with that?

Yes, we can assist with both. If you require the assistance of the ColorWorks™ artist, there will be a fee of $80 per hour. The artist will evaluate each job and send a quote for approval that must be signed an returned before any design work can begin.

Is there a way to see the recolored pattern printed prior to purchasing yardage?

Yes, it is highly recommended that you purchase a 1 yard strike off to confirm color before proceeding with your yardage order.

Is a 1 yard strike off mandatory to purchase?

No, however it is highly recommended that you purchase a 1 yard strike off to confirm color and scale on the selected base before proceeding with your yardage order.

What if I do not like the approval sample? Is it returnable?

No, each trial is custom printed and cannot be returned.

What if I want to make adjustments to my approval sample?

You can make any changes necessary to your design ahead of your production order being printed. Simply update your design and/or base selection online or submit the changes to colorworks@rmcoco.com. It is recommended to get another strike off to confirm accuracy before printing the full order.

How would a customer reorder a customized pattern or their own design?

Each pattern and colorway created for a customer will have a unique pattern number printed on the invoice for that item. RM COCO will use that number to link an order to the digital file for the design previously ordered.
