Transitioning Your Home Décor from Summer to Fall

Summer has all but faded away, and the holidays are quickly approaching. The weather is changing, the leaves are changing, and your décor should be changing too! An update to your space helps you mentally transition to fall, while also keeping things fresh and fun in your home, which is especially important in these times, when the cold weather and social distancing is keeping many of us inside our homes. There’s a variety of ways to vamp up your space for fall, and it’s up to you to decide which you’re feeling! Here are some of our favorite fall finishes!

Add a Pop of Color

There’s several ways you can add a pop of color to your home! Adding fall foliage is an easy and quick way to add some festivity to your home, both inside and out. Mums are the quintessential fall flower, and lend themselves perfectly to that pop of color needed. Plus, pumpkins aren’t just for Halloween! Pairing pumpkins with mums and the right luminary lighting can give your front porch the perfect fall presence.

For the ambitious, another great way to add some color to the front of your home is painting your front door, and adds a very physical transitional element from your outdoor space to your indoor space! Oranges and reds make for great entry doorway colors! Or, if you’re not set on the permanence of paint, add a wreath or garland to your entryway or foyer!

Throw in Some Throw Pillows

Swapping out your pillows and throws is an easy change that makes a big impact. Faux fur throws and pillows with autumn colors, sweater stitches, or phrases brings that cozy fall feeling to its peak! Here are some of our favorite fall accent colors from RM COCO that are perfect for throw pillows!

Dining Digs

Whether you spend more time in the kitchen or the dining room, bring some more fall colors into the space with centerpieces and table settings! Custom fall colored tablecloths, napkins, and placemats help set the tone without being too obtrusive or getting in the way of the practicality of the space. You can create a more “designer look” by setting the table with dishes and table runners, and some pumpkins and garland along the center. These patterns are some of our favorite for kitchen and dining accents!
